This Is Heaven...

A young couple on their way to get married, met with a fatal accident and found themselves standing in line at the Pearly Gates.

When they met St. Peter, they told him, that they wanted to get married before going into Heaven. He looked a bit harassed and said that it was the first time anyone had asked, and that he would go find out… and left.

The two of them waited and waited … a month passed, then another … And suddenly they got to wondering, supposed the marriage doesn’t work out, then what? Would they be stuck to each other for ever?!

After two more months of waiting and talking and doubting, a fairly bedraggled looking St. Peter returned.

“Yes!” he tells the couple,” you can get married in Heaven…”

“Great” they say, “but we were wondering, just in case, if things don’t work out between us, can we also get divorced in heaven?”

A very red faced St. Peter slammed his foot on the clouds and there was loud thunder and a few sparks of lightning

“Whats wrong??!” asked the frightened couple

“Oh come on!” St. Peter fumed, “Don’t you know this place is Heaven?!”

“It took me 4 months to find a priest here… Do you have any idea how long it will take me to find a lawyer?!!”

Celebrating The Divine Mother -Bhanumathi Narasimhan

The Divine Mother Devi is the womb of all Creation. She is the seed of all dynamism, radiance, beauty, equanimity, peace and nourishment. She is the life force energy.
The Divine Mother has unconditional and infinite love for Her children, that is, every being in entire Creation.
During the nine nights of Navaratri, Devi is worshipped in all Her names and forms each of which has a special significance. We remember a sandalwood tree by the memory of its perfume. Each name and form of the Devi refers to a specific quality or attribute of the
Divine. By remembering the form or by chanting the many names of Devi, we enliven those qualities in our consciousness and they manifest in us according to the need.
Navaratri is a journey from the outer world of names and forms to the subtle world of energies, invoked through the various yagnas. The first three days celebrate the Devi in the form of Durga. Durga
also means hill. A very difficult task is often described as an uphill task. The goddess is depicted as riding a lion or tiger, alluding to the aspect of courage and valour, the essence of Devi Durga.
The Nava Durga symbolises the nine aspects of Durga-energy that act like a shield to ward off all negativities. When you have obstacles and mental blocks, just remembering these qualities of the Devi can help you overcome the mental blocks.
As Mahishasuramardini, Durga is the destroyer of Mahisha. The word mahisha means buffalo, a symbol of lethargy and inertia. These are the qualities that impede
the spiritual and material progress of an individual. The Devi is a storehouse of positive energy and any trace of laziness or inertia dissolves in Her very presence.
The second set of three days honour the Devi as Lakshmi. Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Wealth is a vital ingredient bestowed upon us for maintenance and for progress in our life. It is much more than just having money. It means abundance in knowledge, skills and talents. Lakshmi is the energy that manifests as the complete spiritual and material well-being of a person.
The final three days are dedicated to Saraswati. Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge. She gives the essence, the Sara of the Self, Sva.
She is often depicted as being seated on a rock. Knowledge, like a rock, is a steadfast support. It stays with us at all times. She plays the veena, a musical instrument whose mellifluous notes bring harmony and peace to the mind. Similarly, spiritual knowledge brings relaxation and celebration into life.
Saraswati is the ocean of understanding and the consciousness
that vibrates with different types of learning. She is the source of spiritual light, remover of all ignorance and the source of knowledge.
The Devi is offered flowers in a multitude of hues and fragrances like jasmine, hibiscus, lotus, lilies and roses. From outer beauty, as we turn our focus inward and are soaked in the divine attributes, our consciousness flowers.
Navaratri is a time of celebration of both inner and outer beauty, a time to give thanks to the Divine Mother Devi for her love and protection, guidance and understanding.

What does Swastik denotes? - SRI SRI

SRI SRI: "Swastik is a symbol and they are the people who make something out of the symbol. For eg, the `Do Not Enter´ symbol is only recognized in USA and Europe. It is not known in India and hence it has no significance.

The Swastika represents the 4 time zones, also represents the 4 stages in life - in 100 years, first 25 years is for studying (studenthood) , next 25 years is the life of a householder, next 25 years is the time to do service for society, last 25 years is the time for being a recluse - completely detached from everything. There are several such 4s like the 4 Vedas etc. The ancient symbol of Swatika was in the clockwise direction and signified the cyclical nature of time. Hitler changed it make it go in the other direction and preverted the meaning"

Joke: Women Behind a Man

Barbara Walters of television series 20/20,did a story on gender roles in Kabul Afghanistan several years before the Afghan conflict. She noticed that women's customarily walked five paces behind their husbands. She recently returned to Kabul and observed that women's still walks behind their husbands. From Mrs. Walters vantage point, despite the overthrow of the oppressive Taliban regime, the women's now walks even further behind their husbands and seems happy to upkeep the old customs.

Mrs. Walters approached one of the Afghan lady and asked,"Why do you continue with the old custom that you once tried to change so desperately?" The women looked straight in to Mrs. Walters eyes ,and without any hesitation said ,"Land Mines" :-)

The Greatest Magician I have ever seen..

This week Im assisting a YES+ course in a engineering institute in Ghaziabad. Last eve we did the 1st Sudarshan kriya.Everything was going all fine I took the 3 stage paranayam ,bhastrika ,om and then we started with kriya.I think it was the 4th round and suddenly their was a huge noise in the transformer in the campus, and the their was loadshedding in the whole area even in our hall. EXCEPT the tubelight under which the tape was being played & the tape. I praised myself that I have been so smart to have brought the batteries for the tape otherwise it would have been such a awkward situation. within 1 min the generator was on ,everyone had a great experience. Some felt sensation ,some smelled rose/mogra and bla...bla.... We winded up by 9.35pm .I switched off everthing and then opened the player to take out batteries and what I saw left me speechless....................................... Their was no batteries in the tape, the batteries where still in my bag .I had somehow forgot to install them in the tape. How it was possible when their was no electricity in the whole campus then also the tape kept playing {without even any back up from inverter}. I saw Gurudev's pic and thanked him . And I m still shivering when I m recalling how it happened.

Guru ki mahima koi na jaane,na koi pandit na hi saayane !!!!

Back with a bang !!

Jaigurudev friends. I apologise for being off for so long and the reason for this was that i was in ashram for TTC and Gurudev has now made me a YES+ teacher. So their is a treat due for all of you. I have done almost all courses of Aol but the khazana is only left for few to enjoy - TTC{ Teacher Training course}. 21 days in the lap of Grace ,it was such a blissful experience. In the evening Gurudev used to come for the satsang and we even had swami pragyanand ji ,who told us beautiful stories and then we continued with the Q & A rounds before winding up. Gurudev has put in all his knowledge pearls in TTC as processes, which will make one feel that this is the best day of my life and the very next day after doing another process one says oh ! its even better than yesterday. One eve I got a chance to sing saaiyaan {of kailash kher} before Gurudev and one should have seen the look on his face,he was beaming with love.Last evening I took my 1st follow up and I tell you the gratitude that I felt during it was much more than what I have gathered doing satsangs all over the globe. Its the best job to be an instrument of the Divine.

The Purpose, Utility And Futility Of Identity Sri Sri Ravi Shankar TOI 6.7.09

The universe is a multilayered existence; there are many levels: there are the molecular, the atomic and the subatomic levels. So also the human consciousness: though one, yet, it is many.
An eight-year-old child in India was always given the Brahma Gyan first, before any other knowledge. The first upadesha or formal advice given during the Upanayanam or holy thread ceremony is called Brahmopadesha, where the highest identity of oneself is revealed as a secret. In this ceremony, the guru, father
and mother whisper in the ear of the child: “You are THAT!” And then all the varnashrama dharmas, or lesser identities are taught and the duties are promulgated.
The lesser identity is essential to perform limited duties that include those as student, son or daughter, hus
band or wife, father or mother, professional or citizen. Lesser identities strengthen the ‘karta’ or doer and enable him to complete the karma. Another utility of lesser identity is to move one from tamoguna to rajoguna. Krishna reminds Arjuna of his being a warrior and his warrior dharma, again and again after educating him in the Sankhya yoga, the highest knowledge of atma-gyan. He tells him about his kshatriya dharma and what people will say if he doesn’t do his duty, something that is irrelevant to a Brahmagyani.
So, to come out of tamoguna, rajoguna is essential. And while moving from rajoguna to satoguna, all identities get dropped. That’s why Buddha said the world is all sorrow and misery; so take sanyas. His teachings were simple, plain, convincing, logical and so could be understood far and wide, whereas Krishna’s are complicated, confusing and contradictory and so they remained
confined to India. Krishna also says “Anityam Asukham Loka”. The universe is anitya, asukha (transient, devoid of happiness) – he doesn’t say it is dukham – and further he says “Imam Prapya” --Achieving this, “Bhajaswamam” – merge into Me. (Gita, Ch. 9)
In the Vedantic tradition, there are two paths: One is that of negation “neti neti”, which the Buddhists have adopted. The other is simply moving beyond negation. That is the path of Taitriya Upanishads, also called the varunya. The varun was given introduction … food is Brahmn, then told Prana Brahmn, without negating the previous. Then as the
higher planes of manobrahma, vigyan-brahma and anandam-brahma are introduced, the previous identities are naturally superseded; no negation is used in this. You don’t need to negate being a householder to be a good citizen of your country and you don’t need to negate being a good citizen in order to be a world citizen; they all fall in place. The lower identities simply get absorbed and enriched as well. This is incomprehensible for a linear-thinking Occident.
The dharmashastras and Brahmagyanis have all along been guiding when there is a conflict between the dharmas of different identities like between a grihastha-dharma or that of a householder and raja-dharma or that of a citizen. While identities are useful for performing the karmas, their futility is obvious in the field of knowledge or gyana. Like the membrane around the seed, which stays till the seed sprouts, identity will remain till the Brahmagyan is attained – they help one to complete their karmas.
In the Gita, Krishna cleverly adopts both these methods, to bring both vairagya (to get out of sorrow) and to perform the duty, which Arjuna had to. “Na budhibhedam … karma sanghinam.”
