Sri Sri Ravishankar's Article in The Times Of India dated 4th march 09

THE SPEAKING TREE
Make The World A Safe Place For All Of Us
Discourse: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Seeing life from a perspective of space and time will deepen your vision about your life. The corrupt amass a lot of money, but cannot spend all of it. Then one day they die. Children might inherit the wealth — maybe they fight over it. Seeing life in the context of the universe and unfathomable time can broaden your vision, your mind and enrich your heart. Corruption can be countered by five Cs. The first is a sense of connectedness. Lack of a sense of belonging breeds corruption in society. That is why corruption is lowest at the village level. But in urban areas, it’s high because there is little or no sense of community. The second C is courage. Lack of self-esteem or confidence in one’s own ability is one of the causes of corruption. Fear or insecurity makes one corrupt. When you try to find security only through money, it doesn’t work. Even after acquiring more money, the insecurity doesn’t disappear. In fact, you become more fearful because the money might not have been earned in the right manner. So you need to have courage and confidence in your ability and in the laws of nature.

The third C is an understanding of cosmology: looking at one’s own life in the context of extended space and time. What is the human lifespan, just 80 or 100 years? See life in the context of the huge dimension of time. Billions of years have passed since creation. And everything in this creation is recycled. The air we breathe is old, every cell in our body, every atom is old, and the oxygen and hydrogen is old! The fourth C is care and compassion, important since they bring dedication. Its lack causes corruption. The Kumbha Mela was attended by 30 million people — nearly three million people each day — without violent incidents, theft or robbery! The fifth one is commitment. When a person has a goal, a commitment to a higher cause in life, it brings a shift from taking to giving. If you only think ‘What can i gain?’ rather than ‘What can i contribute?’, corruption cannot be rooted out. We need to shift our attitude to commit ourselves to give. All this is not possible without individual spiritual uplift. A sense of belonging with the whole world. Today, we have globalized everything other than wisdom. And that is one of the causes of terrorism and unrest in the world today. We accept food from every part of the world, we accept music from every part of the world, but when it comes to wisdom, people seem to shy away. If every child in the world learns a little about all cultures, about each other’s values, the whole scenario will be different. Then one will not think, ‘Only i will go to heaven. Everyone else will go to hell’. Lack of knowledge of this truth has caused so many problems. Even if one part of the world remains ignorant of these shared values, the world will not be a safe place. It is not something we can do overnight, but it can be done through education and creating that sense of community, through inspiration and example. Religion is like the banana skin and spirituality is the banana. Spirituality, the values, are the same in every religion. The differences are superficial. It is good to have differences. Nurture the differences but also enliven spiritual values. Then together we can make the world joyous and safe

तेरे प्यार में हर जाऊ

I was limping and had excruciating pain in my ankle, all thanks to the sports shoe I was gifted by a aol devotee of kolkata on my way back to Noida. I think it’s almost 2yrs now to this incident.
Usually I prefer sandal upon shoes, but come on……… those were Reebok and of my exact size। I kept flaunting my new found possession throughout my few cities trip for satsangs to West Bengal, completely untold about the darker part of it। As the universal rule says that all shoes take time to mould as per feet and comfort so this shoes were no exception। But on their way to make them shelf comfortable with my feet they bruised by ankle terribly ।On the top of it I kept on carrying them resulting in blood clotting and which in turn became a red-blackish colored swollen ankle.
I don’t know how I walked all the way from old Howrah station to the New Howrah station to board my train {FYI – The distance is almost 1 km through over bridge}. In the night when everyone where enjoying their dreams I was battling with nerve wrecking pain. The seconds where feeling like minutes and minutes where taking hours to pass before we could have reached New Delhi. Gradually the pain spread through my whole right feet, knees, thighs, and hip and reached my spine. I was feeling like to scream at the top of my vocal but all I could do at that time was cry and call “HIM”.
Even though it took ages to reach New Delhi, I landed the next morning there. But the biggest challenge now was to go to the cab which was waiting outside the station to pick me up which was completely out of question. Somehow I started but each step was felling like a hunter slap on my back. One can see nerves popped out in my forehead, eyes & face like blood red. Usually I don’t prefer to bother “HIM” every now & then for problems & botherations but this was a state where it had rolled out of my control.
So I put my baggage & Guitar down closed my eyes in mid of buzzing New Delhi station and prayed,”Please take it from me”. By this time I had somehow managed to drag myself out of the station and even spotted my cab. My driver came and took over the baggage from me and let me take him as a support to walk. The car was maximum 40 feet away but as they say it’s toughest to fight when you are nearest to conquest. I had reached the max out of pain, and visuals started dissolving from my sight.
Suddenly gravity lost its command on me as I was swept off my feet into the arms of an Army officer. I couldn’t see him as my eyes where flooded with tears and even though his lips didn’t parted but I heard,”I m here”. It might have looked so weird a 23yr brat in the arms of an army officer, but I guess it was need of time & mine. “He” placed me on the back seat and left, and before the car started moving “He” turned and gave me the million pound smile.
Next thing I knew was that I was home, and rest is history .Baba took me to hospital for a minor operation {with anesthesia} and after 2 weeks I was jumping like a baby kangaroo.

Many of times we feel alone, left out and not being taken care off. But “He” has his eyes on each one of us, its just that “He” wants us to be strong and go getter rather than a Pappu. But that certainly doesn’t mean that he won’t answer your calls but it got be a call which connects to him via your Soul and he come down for you in any form.
नज़र बनाओ , नज़रें वो ख़ुद दिखा देंगे .

I Love you Guruji !!!!!!!!

ज़हर तेरा वो पीले छन में , प्रलय हो जाए कर्मो की पल में

Health is one of the aspect of which I have gained being in the Art of living Family. In continuation with my previous post here is another incident that took place way back in 2003-2004 when we used to be in Lucknow. It was chilling winter night in 03 December, I was doing a outdoor catering in Taj Residency, Lucknow {part of my Hotel Management curriculum}. It was almost 3am and we were winding up the place, I happened to be very thirsty and we had winded up with even the water counter so all I was left with was the tap in the garden which was used to water the lawns.

I quenched my thirst only to know what sort of problem I have invited. Within an hour or two I started feeling drowsy and even started shivering like anything. Next morning I woke up with yellow eyes & pale face .After going through thorough check up and blood test it was found that I m suffering from Hepatitis B. Doctor prescribed me complete bed rest and special meal{ without oil, spices, turmeric etc}.

As the days past I came to know that my heartthrob is coming to Lucknow in February end 04. Just after listening to the news I started feeling better {since it was only the 2ND time was to meet Gurudev}.Even though I was not going to college, I planned to work for the event up to my best. I started with raising funds, selling long kriya passes, distributing invitations, looking for prominent locations to paste the events posters and did lots of satsangs.

With each passing day my condition was getting bad to worse. My Serum G.P.T/G.O.T in blood which is normally supposed to be from 5-40 was counting in 1600-1800 which is like war situation {you would know that if you are a doctor} and I was certainly feeling that. The days passed and Gurudev landed in Lucknow in his chartered flight. In evening we were having a mahasatsang in Gomti Nagar School only for AOL devotees. Satsang was on its peak with Chitra di mesmerizing bhajans, after some bhajans 2 girls came to present a classical dance on a bhajan “Shri Ram Chandra kripalu bhajman” sung by Lata Ji.

Gurudev was sitting in his couch and I was sitting just below his right side armrest. As the bhajan started I don’t know why but I started crying and it grew louder and louder. Gurudev looked at me as if saying,” Why are you crying?” but that only triggered my crying into profuse mode. After seeing this Gurudev moved on to his right side and placed his palm on my head and……………………

I felt like a 10000 watt suction machine was in my head and sucking every bothering elements right from my toes, knees, hips, chest & head. I sat their unconsciously and after a while when I opened my eyes everyone was dancing on “Jai Jai Radha raman” .Gurudev was almost out of the stage but he turned back and winked me.

Next day after doing the long kriya with Gurudev and bidding him farewell in the evening I again got a blood test done. To the uttermost surprise of the Doctor and me the Serum level came down to 60 from 1800. My doctor said that,”This is the first time in my medical practice I m seeing this sort of miracle which is beyond the explanation of medical science. How it happened?” And I said,”Guru Kripa”.

Even though I have heard many such incidents but started believing only after it happened with me. But this has certainly proved a saying correct:-

"गुरु सत्संग है प्राणों से प्यारा

इसमे बहती है अमृत धारा .

ज़हर तेरा वो पीले छन में ,

परलय हो जाए कर्मो की पल में "

I have pasted this picture of the event.

Do share your experiences

लेना होगा जनम हमें कई कई बार !!!!

For quite some time I wanted to share my experiences being in The Art of Living with all of you. Finally I’m penning it down. It all started in Korba ,Chattisgarh way back in 1998. Their was a sudden craze among all people in our township regarding a “Course”, somehow Ma & Baba also got going with it. And then the sun started coming out from west from the next day. The first time ever in Mukherjee family’s history we were having

Bhath{Boiled Rice} & Aloo gobhi {Potato & Cauliflower preparation} instead of the trademark Kosha Mangsoh{Bengali Red meat preparation}on a Sunday lunch duh !!!!

But who knew that this was just the glimpse of what was about to pop up. Many sort weird / scary sounds started coming out with mantra chanting and om chanting from their room every morning. And within a weeks time my lovely scenery picture in living room got changed by a life size frame of a “dadhi waale baba ji’s pic” { Can’t translate that} and on top of it every morning the torture session gets started with the stereo playing bhajans at the top of its voice. Man only I know how I survived through that tough changing times at home.

I used to be a Bronchial asthmatic patient {It was a heredity disease from my mothers side}. I had 44% lung blockages ,every now and then I needed to get hospitalized. My best friend used to be my bunch of inhalers, puffs & tablets. I didn’t even used to talk free flow forget about singing. When my parents came to know that AOL even has courses for kids ,they got me enrolled into Art Excel. But due to some rifts with my classmates I got an attack on Saturday{2nd last day of the course}in school and needed to get directly hospitalized from there resulting me not being able to complete the course. But my teacher Priyajit Raju sir told me that I can repeat it next time and that’s what I did. After practicing the ha ha hu hu {miniature version of the Sudarshan Kriya} for about 3months I started coughing out like anything. By the end of 4th month my coughs color got changed into pinkish-red and by 6month it turned to black. Even though it scared the hell out of me, my teacher told me to continue with it and said,” It’s the toxic your body has accumulated over the years, let it flush out”. My doctor said,” I don’t know what sort of treatment you are availing outside my knowledge, but whatsoever it is .Its doing wonder for you and showing drastic change on your body”.

My doctor’s & my teacher’s words came true .By the end of 7th month of doing the course I was completely free of Asthma and my stamina was turbo boosted. The very same year I represented my state in National Swimming Championship and even won the Gold medal in 100 mtr. Breast stroke setting a new record.

I think it must have been the good karma of me & my relatives in my last birth that have made me eligible for his blessings in this lifetime or its just that he wanted me to get offloaded so as I can as a better instrument. Whatsoever it is all I can say is :-

इतना मदिर इतना मधुर ,तेरा मेरा प्यार

लेना होगा जनम हमें कई कई बार !!!!

Slumdog Millionaire - Is it really worth the Hublaboo???

Finally I got to see the talk of the globe ,"Slumdog Millionaire". And after seeing it I came to a conclusion that its really not worth this hype.Films have been made on this sort of plot many of a times in India. But it got all the eyes swaying on it just because Mr.Boyle has toiled himself for the film. The thing that grabbed my attention the most is Mr. A.R Rahman's nomination for the song "Jai Ho",which stands no where in front of Rahman's other composition. People in west still thinks that India is a country of snake charmers, forts, elephants & Maharaja's. So every time someone projects India as poor & crippled state they go ga-ga for it.And its really high time now that they wake up before the water flows over their nose.

7 easy to follow mantras to a prosperous life for 2009 by Gurudev

1 Time and again, reflect on your life in relation to the cosmos. It is not even a drop in the ocean. This awareness will simply drop all the smallness in you and you will be able to live every moment of your life.

2 Remind yourself of the highest goal in your life. You are not here to grumble ot to complain. You are here for something much bigger.

3 Serve! Engage yourself in community service to whatever extent you can.

4 Have faith that the Divine loves you dearly and is taking care of you. Have the trust and faith that you will get whatever is needed in life.

5 As we flip the calendar, we need to keep flipping our mind as well. Often, our diaries are full with memories. See that you don’t fill your future dates with past events. Learn and unlearn from the past, and move on.

6 Smile more! True sign of prosperity is an unconditional smile on your face.

7 Take some time to walk by yourself. Nurture yourself with music, prayer and silence. Do a few minutes of meditation, pranayam and yoga. This heals and rejuvenates you, giving you depth and stability.

This article was published in The Times Of India ,New Delhi edition dated 2jan 09.

Now as we are done with reading it, its time to implement it.
